We had an OB appointment today and all is good with baby boy. He’s measuring a whopping 4lbs 8 oz (give or take 11 oz) at just over 30 weeks! Little man is not so little! He’s also moving around constantly and getting pretty squishy in there so it’s hard to get a good image of him these days, but my doctor said this is all very good. It is such a huge relief that he is clearly doing so well, especially since I am not feeling great at all. I’m so relieved he doesn’t seem to be affected by it. That is the most important thing, but I would be lying if I didn’t admit to feeling pretty miserable these past few days. Along with a horrible head cold that has kept me up for over a week now and causes some pretty awful ligament pain when the coughing fits get really bad, it seems that nausea has come back in the third trimester. For the past 3 days, I have been really sick and barely able to keep anything down.
My doctor said the nausea is probably a reaction to the head cold as it works its way through my system, but just to be on the safe side we ran a bunch of labs again today. I got most of the labs back already on my online Kaiser account and it looks all fine to me, except the urine analysis. It seems that the proteins in my urine are elevated past the standard range by quite a bit. Cue major freak out! This is a sign of preeclampsia! Please God, not again. My doctor hasn’t emailed me yet so she likely hasn’t had a chance to review everything, but I’m trying not to worry about it right now. My BP was perfect today at 107/71 so this is very good and I’m actually wondering if I was too dehydrated this morning for an accurate urine sample. Dr. Google says dehydration can cause the analysis to be off. Normally, I can pee all the time these days, but this morning, I barely produced anything and it was super dark so I’m really hoping this is why. I guess I’ll find out when I hear back from my doctor. I hope she’ll review everything today, but it probably won’t be until tomorrow. I’m thinking she’s gong to have me come back in and provide another urine sample. So for now, I’m trying really hard to not freak out and to hydrate as much as possible without throwing up.
Oh sweetheart, I can only imagine how panicked you are! I wish I could say or do something to make you feel even the slightest bit better. All I can offer you is reassurance that I am thinking of you and your little guy and hoping that you are just dehydrated and that this is not a sign of preeclampsia or any other not so good complication. Sending you love and hoping for the best!
Thanks hon. I’m really hoping it’s just dehydration too. It would make sense. Sending you lots of love back!
While it would make sense for it to just be dehydration, I can understand how it opens you up to a whole lot of fears. I hope you get answers asap, and know that you are surrounded by love no matter the outcome! Wishing you strength to get through the wait and maybe some sleep tonight too.
Thanks hon! I’m still waiting to hear from her. I’ve convinced myself it must be dehydration to keep myself a sane right now. I tossed and turned most of the night, but did manage to get some sleep. I just keep reminding myself that baby is growing so well and this is not like last time. Hopefully I’ll have more answers today! I’ll definitely keep you posted!
I think that’s about the most you can do right now. Thinking of you and sending you love and a giant hug.
I am so sorry that you haven’t been feeling the best. And to have these nerves on top of that now. I’m hoping it’s just the dehydration and that when you give another sample your numbers will be better. Will be thinking of you and hoping that you get in soon for another sample and everything is just perfect. Hugs…
Thanks hon. Me too! Hugs back! I will keep you posted.
Oh I totally understand the freak out! Praying for you and don’t forget those verses. Psalm 112:7
Thanks hon. I’m not ❤️
Wow, your little guy is getting big! I hope you find out all is well and it’s dehydration and nothing more serious! Sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling well – I hope that gets better for you really soon! Take care and I hope to hear good news on your next update!
Thanks hon. I’m still waiting to hear from my dr but will update as soon as I do. I’m feeling a bit better today, but still really dehydrated. I’m trying really hard not to worry and I’m sure it’s all related to just being sick. I hope!
Hopefully it’s nothing!! Praying for you.
Thank you hon. I’m praying for you too!
Thanks
Man, I hate to hear your nausea is back–I’m still taking Zofran but I hadn’t puked in like 3 weeks…until today@ exactly 21 weeks, like some sort of weird celebration (congrats! still pregnant! *barf*) I think it was at least partially due to mucus draining from my head to my stomach in my sleep, and since you have a cold that may be part of your problem? My only suggestion is to prop yourself up with pillows to sleep/sit upright & spit/blow as much as possible (to expel mucus). Hope the protein is a fluke, please keep us posted. XOXO
Haha, that’s exactly how I feel! And I think you’re right about the mucus draining and causing the nausea. I still haven’t heard anything from my dr yet, but will update as soon as I do. All your support means so much and is keeping me grounded right now!
Breathe hun…hope for better lab results, but…worst case scenario? If it is preeclampsia, your big boy is a good weight and 30+ weeks. This pregnancy is nothing like your pregnancy with Holdon. Remember that. If your doc has to resort to an emergency scenario, you can at least hold onto notion. And remember you’ve done nothing wrong! You can’t control your body.
I’ll be thinking of you, hun. Sending good thoughts and healthy vibes. Hoping it’s not pre-e! But I have faith your baby boy will be okay no matter what! Stay strong. Here if you need to talk. 🙂 <3
Thanks hon. That’s all very true and the only thing keeping me same right now! I will post an update as soon as I hear back from my doctor.
Please do! <3
I will 🙂 hopefully it will be soon! Thanks for your support hon. It really helps!
Of course. 🙂
Fingers crossed that this is just dehydration (and that you hear from your doctor first thing in the morning). I’ll be thinking of you and hoping for the best and that you start to feel better soon – your cold/nausea sounds terrible.
So happy to hear the little one is growing like crazy – 4 pounds! WOW!
My thoughts are with you… I’ll be anxious to hear what I hope/pray will be a positive update tomorrow!
Thank you so much hon. Little man’s measurements are the only thing keeping me same right now. I haven’t heard from my doctor yet, but hopefully it will be soon. I will definitely post an update once I do!
I’m praying for peace!!! Also, I hope preeclampsia is slllooowwww if it is that! No doubt, I’m right along with you… it recurring freaked me out.
Thanks hon. My urine was super dark with my first pee this morning again, so I’m really thinking (hoping) it’s just dehydration. I’m trying to hydrate as much as I can right now and hopefully I’ll hear back from my doctor soon!
Thinking of you and crossing my fingers it is just the dehydration. I can only imagine how scary it must feel to you. I’m so glad that your boy is so big, and you are getting so close to the end!! Praying for you and that you start to feel better soon. xo
Thanks hon! I’m so relived for that too. Still no word from my doctor yet, but I’ll definitely post an update once I do hear back from her!
Keeping you and your little guy (and your big guy!) in my thoughts!! Hang in there and get well soon. Hugs..
Thanks hon. I’m still waiting to hear back from my doctor. Hopefully it will be soon!
Hope that your doctor gets back to you soon! And I hope that the nausea goes away. <3
Thanks hon. I haven’t heard from her yet, but it’s only 7:30 here so hoping to hear from her soon. I will definitely post an update as soon as I hear from her!
oh my word, you are having a big baby!!! I hope that weight evens out before your deliver. Am around 3lbs & nearing 31 weeks.
Glad to hear you’re doing well other wise. Nausea always sucks. Some times it does come back but hopefully it’s just having a cold.
Ugh. I would be so scared, too. That said, I really hope and am praying that the protein was just a function of dehydration as you say. I’m also sorry the nausea is back (that’s more common than doctors admit I believe, for it to rear back up in the third tri). Please let us know what happens with Dr. S once she’s reviewed. I’m worrying about you!
Thanks hon. I still haven’t heard anything from her, but it’s still early here. I’m trying so hard to keep it together. Hope she contacts me soon!
Hugs and prayers. I hope so too.
Oh no! So sorry you aren’t feeling well and nausea has returned. I bet you’re right and dehydration has a lot to do with your urine sample coming back abnormal. I will pray all comes back great with the next test. Wow, your little man is growing like a champ!! 😉
Thanks for your prayers hon. I’m really hoping it’s all because of dehydration too. Little man’s amazing growth rate is the only thing keeping me sane right now!
Sometimes the answer that makes sense is the right one! But I know how easy it is to jump to the worst conclusion. My intuition tells me all is well still, and its rarely wrong. 😉 I hope you get to do another urine test soon, so you can take a breath!
Thanks hon. I trying really hard to not flip out and just wait to hear from my doctor. I’m still pretty dehydrated today so I’m sure it’s just that.
At least your blood pressure was nice and low and your little guy is big! I am hoping that it is just dehydration and a double check will show a decreased concentration of proteins. I know this is scary but you are being monitored, and good thoughts are going your way from people all over the place 🙂 *hugs*
Thanks hon. I know you are right. I’m trying to focus on how well our little guy is doing and stay sane. I’ll hopefully have more answers today. All your support really helps! <3
Still totally normal to freak out! And that is okay, I hope you get reassurance soon <3
Tell him to let Harper borrow a pound hahaha 🙂 so glad he’s doing so well!
Hoping its just dehydration but thankful that your little man is 30 weeks now and measuring so well. One of my friends just had a baby at 33 weeks and she came home in less than a week with a birth weight of under 5 lbs!
Thanks hon. I just posted an update. Everything is fine and I feel silly now 🙂 how scary for your friend. So glad her little one is home already!
Praying for you, big hugs. I don’t really know much about pre-e or anything along those lines, but I do know a lot about Prayer 🙂 Big hugs, seriously! Keep us posted!
Thank you so much for your prayers. I just posted an update. It looks like everything is okay. Thank God!
Oh honey, really, really, really hoping it’s just dehydration with both your cold and the not being able to keep anything down. Since the blood pressure came back normal that seems like a good sign in my book. Hoping you both feel better and get some good news today.
Thanks hon. I just posted and update. My doctor finally got back to me and everything is good. I feel silly for being so worried now. It’s just so hard with my history!
Sending you positive vibes that it’s just dehydration and nothing more. I’ll be watching for your update. xo
Thanks hon. My doctor finally got back to me and everything is fine. I’m so relieved!
Bless your heart! Rest up and drinks lots of liquids! <3
Thanks hon. I think I’m finally starting to feel better. Hope your cold goes away soon too!
OH yikes, I missed this post. I’m sorry you were so worried!
It’s hard not to worry when things aren’t in the “normal” range or what it “typical”. When I had a 5lb weight gain in a course of 1 week, I also was worried about pre-clampsia b/c that’s a sign of it. But thankfully was nothing. My weight evened out. But we worry, and the worry never ends. xo
